about the approach of winter.
You retire into your innermost chambers and camp
near the small glow
you find there.”

I've taken some time to rest this summer.
Sometimes that's easy. I just finished the first season of The Great British Baking Show and loved every second. I've read an amazing amount this summer, though perhaps that's normal.
I've also spent some time in silence.
And of course, I've spent time working through old projects, like this one.
These aren't summer pictures :) I haven't made time to edit my backlog in months, so these are actually from a February walk in the woods.
That was another time of rest, and silence. So it feels right to reconnect with these images in this new season.
Here's to the next steps down the path.
Cheers,
Charity
Trying to clean out my hard drive today, and found this gem from last winter. Texture! Line! Depth! Very pleased.
Same image, different crop for each. What's your favorite part?
For me, it's the bottom of the first image (also the right of the last image). There's some definition and some blur in the leaf edge that has an elegance and delicateness to it, with absolutely beautiful coloring. And second, of course, the geometry of the branch intersections in the second image.
Alone in an overwhelming body of water. Poor little stick.
Those of you mentally walking alongside me know that I've skipped forward - don't worry. We'll circle back for a short series by the lake.
