Absolutely love this light, especially the blue and browns in the first.

Winter in Manhattan IV
I love the juxtaposition of clearly defined leaf veins with blurred out sunny bokeh. But add in the early morning quality of light here - soft indigo blues, warm mauvey-reds, and zing, I'm hooked.
Winter in Manhattan III
January must be the most creative month. We're all stuck indoors, sure. But having spent the last week of most Decembers thinking about the past year's progress, and what I want in the new year, January is a burst of excited energy.
January is full of:
Let's try this!
Let's learn this!
Let's make more art!
May your January is full of the same :)
This blog post counts as an example of all three :) I recently transitioned from Google's Blogger platform to Squarespace for my blog, primarily to keep everything on the same domain (charitykittler.com). This means learning not only Squarespace, but also Mailchimp (the distribution platform). After some tweaking, it's getting very close to the format I'd like.
Very excited to share new images with you in the coming days and weeks - I have hundreds from last month that I'm going to weed down to the few dozen I'll post here...
Onward!

Winter in Manhattan
I woke up at the crack of dawn recently and felt a nudge to go shoot. You might remember this area from years past.
So keeping the view in mind, take in these photo-paintings with me:
Look forward to sharing more in the coming week!
Happy New Year!
Spoiler alert: These are almost the same shot. But the first makes sense to me as an abstract landscape. The second, on the other hand, speaks to me as painting material... I'd like to paint more in 2016, so let this be another idea in the pot of "to be painted" images :)
Here's to a painterly year full of new work!
The Park Where I Live
Prospect Park VIII
Two final images from a walk in Prospect Park. While the first is my favorite, I love the heightened blue tones of the second and had to include it. Can it really compete with the clear tree line and blurred sunset of the first, though?
Prospect Park VII
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire... neon nipping at sunsets...
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, and shots dressed up like rorschach tests...
Prospect Park VI
To give a glimpse behind the scenes, here's how the landscape looks without any gesture during exposure.
More to come! <3
Prospect Park V
I love these blurs, especially the first, fourth and fifth here.
Let's be real - I love anything with an intriguing cool tone - mint! mauve! cerulean! - and shots of bright warm yellow-orangey-gold.
A landscape, while not a landscape.
Smooth as rain.
Prospect Park IV
Happy Christmas, everyone!
I look forward to sharing the next set of Prospect Park images with you soon :)
Prospect Park III
It's not just the brilliant blues that get me excited - it's the deep expanse of blue, punctuated by shots of sunset sunlight. Strands of orange-y-reds, golden-yellows, warm-peach tones, piercing the silhouetted tree line.
More to come...
